Bluetooth Advertising

Also known as Proximity Advertising, Bluetooth Advertising is breaking new ground internationally for all types of customers, businesses, and organisation. The eponymous company is also the leader in this field. While this advertising trend started in 2003, it is off late that it has truly emerged as a viable marketing option for many companies who are looking to cash in on this free means of advertising in the local as well as international market.

Advertisers worldwide are favouring mobile content and mobile technology based advertising and marketing as opposed to traditional means of advertising simply because of the constantly increasing number of mobile service subscribers. Whether it’s the US, the UK, or Asian countries like India, China, Japan etc, mobile phones are increasingly becoming a way of life. Mobile phone manufacturers are launching 3-4 models almost every month. Most phones nowadays come with Bluetooth or wireless technology that makes it easier to connect with other similarly equipped cell phones. This leads to a network of mobile phone users who have similar choices, belong to a particular age group, and are tech savvy.

Using a broadcast station, the advertiser can transmit the advertising messages or advertisements to all the Bluetooth enabled phones in the vicinity. So when you come within the broadcasting circle of any such Bluetooth station, you will receive all the ads in that circle on your mobile phone. Of course, as per law the broadcast requires your permission and only if you agree upon receiving the information will they transmit it. Crudely put, Bluetooth advertising is almost like a mobile billboard ad. The only difference being that it makes its way to your mobile directly.
